Movember

In case you guys haven't heard about Movember, let me give you the official wiki definition...

Movember (a portmanteau of the words 'Moustache' and 'November'), is an annual month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November. The event has been claimed to have been invented in 1999 by group of Australian men from Adelaide.

Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has run Movember events to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and depression in Australia and New Zealand. In 2007, events were launched in Ireland, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Ok, so now that you know what it is, let me explain why I'm telling you all about it. A guy at work's father has prostate cancer and to help raise awareness and funds, a bunch of guys from our company are growing stache's and goat's. I am one of those dudes. Throughout the month of November, I will be growing my facial hair for the competition in December when the best stache, beard, and goat are determined. My fiance's grandfather died from prostate cancer so I already have the misses support.

So, who else wants in on this? We could make some sort of running competition on the site if anyone is interested. No prizes or anything, just bragging rights. I know some people may not be able to either because of age or school (my high school was a private/Catholic high school that didn't allow facial hair) so you guys can be judges.

If there is any interest whatsoever, let me know. I'm going to be doing it as long as the people at work do it, so I'll keep you guys updated.

Haha- If it wasn't for having to look presentable @ work I would! I always wanted to let my facial hair grow out for a month! I've never gone more then a week without shaving!

Yeah, we're the same way at work and had to get authorization from HR before we could all just do this. Some sales guys couldn't though. But, since I'm in technology and don't do sales stuff, it's all good.

Yeah, was the same for me when I was in High School. We had to shave every other day to make sure we had no facial hair.

I'm probably just going to grow out my goatee I used to have. I know a lot of people at work are taking it really serious and growing crazy things like chops, fu man chu mustaches, and handlebars. I'm dying to see if this one dude can pull off the handlebar. Doubt it's possibly in a month though, but will be neat to see. In case you don't know what I'm talking about...

I got rid of my mustache a month or two ago. I rocked one over a good part of the summer, but finally decided it wasn't for me. I could never get 100% used to it. Sometimes I'd look in the mirror and think it looked okay, and sometimes I'd see it and think it looked silly.

Yeah, I think I'm going for the goatee. That's more my style. The main thing about Movember is growing a stash for charity, so a lot of people, even though they look dumb, will be doing it. Everyone was clean shaven on November 1st and have exactly one month to grow it. It's funny to see everyone with stubble today
