Default Never Buying a Chevy Again!

Ok, I'm pretty ramped up right now and pissed. So, I'm going to tell you about my recent car issues. I own a 2006 Chevy Equinox SUV.

Couple days ago, I was on a road by my house and had to hit the breaks a little harder than usual and water came flooding into my backseat area from the trunk/hatch area. I flipped out, pulled over and started looking around. Water normally doesn't just flow around in your car without you being at the bottom of a lake. I checked the trunk and it was dry, which was odd. So, I checked my spare tire well and bingo...6-8 inches of standing water. I called the dealer and they told me to bring it in. I checked online by googling "Chevy Equinox water leak" and found hundreds of pages about Equinox cars having issues with this.

I took it in yesterday and had to work from home. They checked it over and said they fixed the leak. They also said they got ALL the water out and deodorized the car. I felt the floor in the back and it was wet. They said it was the deodorizer. I went home and went on with my night. When I went out to my car the next morning through, the first thing to hit me in the face was the smell. Nothing but mildewy smells (from the water they DIDN"T Remove). What the fuck, seriously? It's not like that's a hard request. The back floor is still wet and still gives off the mildew smell. I called up this morning and spoke with the manager and went beserk. He told me to bring it up tomorrow to look at it again.

Ok, this is the second day I have to work from home. I'm missing meetings and some work items because I'm not in the office. I'm writing a letter to Chevy and sending it to them to bitch. I used to be a loud spokesperson for Chevy's. I loved my Chevy's. Been driving one for years. Not anymore. I'm done with them. I hate their customer support, the car is a lemon (this isn't the first issue and it's only 2 years old), their service guys are horrible, and I'm done!

So yeah, Chevy sucks.

Whatever you do, do not buy a Chevy Equinox. It's a really nice car, but way too many issues. The water issue is happening all over the world. I've read of cases in America, Europe, and freakin' Libya. Plus, I've had a lot of other small issues that is covered under warranty, but what about when it's out of warranty?

I spoke to someone at Chevy yesterday and told them what's been happening...mainly that I took the car in and they didn't do what they said they would. The woman was really sympathetic and "escalated" the issue to her regional supervisor. Nothing like middle management. I'm going to bitch and bitch until I can't bitch no more because I'm pissed with this. They are treating it like it's a normal issue caused from wear and tear. It's not. It's a manufacturing defect. They need to own up.

I'm glad I bought my mazda

51000 and I haven't been to the dealer yet! Just brakes, rotors, and tires

I hope they fix your problem 100% so it doesn't happen again. Also the store manager should give you a couple free oil changes for the troubles you had to go through. Even then, you may want to consider going to a different dealer for future service- if thats an option.

Good luck!

I knew the Dealer would give me a hard time about this (since they always want to put the issue on someone else) so I called Chevy and started a formal request/complaint/help me out however you can please, lol. I spoke to a normal customer service person and told her my issue and she escalated it. Her regional manager just called me today and I told him what's going on. He said to give him until Monday to investigate and they he would get back in touch with me.

I'm mainly concerned about 2 things.

1) They fixed the issue, which was a defect, because I was under warranty. The should fix this even when I'm not under warranty. If this issue comes back up there is no way in hell I'm going to be responsible to cover the price. This is an Equinox issue. I feel like they know it, they just won't own up to it since these cars are still being sold.

2) I've had to work from home one day and come in late another. This is ridiculous. The people at the dealership are assholes and treat me like I'm the one at fault? Oh hell no, that's why I'm speaking to your manager.

My wife and I were looking into the Equinox. One of our friends was leasing it and it was nice. There lease came up about 3 months ago we asked if there were going to buy it. There answer was "No, its just had to many little things go wrong." I was just thinking that they got a bad car it happens or maybe they didn't drive it like you would your own can. Then we test drove an Edge and nearly bought it. I'm still looking at the Edge but my wife needs to get a better job first.

The Equinox really wasn't a bad car at first. I really liked it. But then the car started shaking uncontrollably when I went above 50 and had to have work. Then when I made a sharp right hand turn the car shrieked, the car made a grinding noise when I drove, and finally the water issue, which is the worse. Too much work had to be done on this car.

Haha, I love the ad's on the site. This thread is about the Equinox and that's the ad's showing. Ad's just know when you're talking about them, not whether is good or bad.
