Default Wireless router recommendation

I am looking at buying a wireless router for the house. My current internet connection is downstairs and my Xbox is upstairs in my room. I was thinking of using my laptop to receive the wireless internet and then connect my Xbox to the laptop. I searched online for awhile and found many different wireless routers are available in the market to choose from. I also found discounts on wireless routers at Dealrocker.com and NexTag.com. Can anyone recommend me the best wireless router to play live?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the site. There is a thread already on this that I started when I joined about a year ago.

I would go with anything that has a wireless rating of N the 360 only needs a G I believe but the new gen will be coming out within the next 2-3 yrs and with the different routers being close in price spend 5 dollars to upgrade. About routing it through your laptop I don't think that works real well I know it can be done if you change some settings but I read it lags something terrible. And if you find you can't go the laptop route, buy the linksys gaming again its N rated and the xbox adaptor is G but the range is also substantially better. Good luck and keep us up to date.
