Honestly, the answer is no. Don't go looking for a netbook because you most likely want the laptop to play games on. If you want a really nice laptop, no way you're spending less than 1,000. If you want a good laptop, you could spend anywhere from 600+ depending on what features you decide to give up.

Anything less than that isn't worth owning. A desktop is a better choice if you don't have much money since that technology has dropped so much recently. The laptop I'm typing on (my work laptop) is an HP that runs about 800 bucks or so. It's good, but it can't play games that well..some older ones like WoW, but not new stuff. Just an fyi...

That new mini HP notebook. The reviews are outstanding and it's only 199.
Also, you should try looking on craigslist, they might have it. But it's best to save up for a better one. But the mini HP has awesome reviews, according to consumers, it's worth it, you just have to deal with the size.

Despite the likely hood that you won't find one, try Shop Local for stuff. You never know, you could find something. It always works for me.

Only way that 260$ is getting you a laptop thats worth buying is if its used.

Times are tough, people are desperate. Check craigslist.com for people that need cash, and barter with them.

Yeah, that's a good idea...but in the same vein of "times are tough", someone may over exaggerate the quality of the laptop and since you're buying it off of craigslist, you can't demand a refund.
