Found a really neat article while surfing through reddit.com. In the article, the author uses scientific fact along with a really strong video game background to pinpoint just how addicted to video games we really are. In the end, the general consensus of the article that I found was that video games give us more immediate satisfaction than real life so we chose it over real life. Games keep us playing by giving us a lot at first, then slowly diminishing returns, like a casino. It's a really good read and if you have about 15 minutes, you'll think differently the next time you prestige. You won't be running to a clinic, but it may make you feel like even more of a nerd...and that's ok in my book.

This is creepy because its true. Think of all the RPG's and the hours you spend trying to level up to beat that next boss. Or MW2 I so want that gun so I'm willing to spend a few hours to get three more levels.

By the way the Dolphin thing was frickin awesome I didn't know they could do that.

I like how the article talks about how people say "You're leveling up for something that isn't real." True, it's not real, but the feeling of accomplishment and the ability to use it/see it/play in it, etc. is real.

You make your own reality isn't that what people say. If you want to be a lazy slob you are, if you want to be successful you can be if you try, if you want to be happy it's your choice. So it makes since that to people the game is real its something to brag to friends about, or show off, etc.
