Default Metro 2033

So, I've been sick over the past couple days and decided to pick up a new game while I was home vegetating. I heard about this post apocalyptic game called Metro 2033 and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad that I did. The following isn't a review, but rather just some tidbits of info you guys should know if you're looking for a game similar to this.

Metro 2033 takes place in post apocalyptic Russia and is based on a Russian book (coming to English bookshelves soon). Basically, nuclear war destroyed Earth and the people of Russia took to the underground subway tunnels to survive. They live a secluded lifestyle much to what you would expect. In the game, the enemies are other Russians, neo-nazi's organizations, and monsters. The monsters are like radiated monsters and no one knows where they came from (part of the story is figuring it out).

I'm a few hours into the game and two things stick out to me. 1) the ambiance - you feel like you are in a god forsaken world. and 2) the bullets. In an underground world, what would be the currency? Money? No way...money doesn't mean anything to people on the verge of death. What they care about are bullets. The game has two types of bullets. The first kind are ones made by the people of Metro. These are weak but in high supply. The second is bullets from before the apocalypse. You use these to buy things, or to kill things faster. The pre war bullets do insane amounts of damage, but using them is like throwing your money at the enemy. What do you do?

The shooting aspect of the game is weak, but the story is amazing. This is a typical shooter with an amazing story. Another game had this same set up, BioShock. BioShock was a subpar shooter with an amazing story and ambiance so I'm really looking forward to the story.

Anyways, go check the game out - watch some trailers...do whatever you need to do to get this on your radar. I can see how a lot of people would miss this on their radar.

Trailer for the launch of the game is below:

This game is hard to recommend. I enjoyed the hell out of it, but it's not for everyone. Pros: The graphics is amazing. Immerse and history, and the game itself is compelling. World of sand, Metro incredibly detailed, and you feel like you are part of the game world.
