I'm thinking about giving GameFly a try. Does anyone here use GameFly to rent their Xbox 360 games? If so, say when there's a new release, do you get it the same day as the official release date?
Also, how do they send it to you? UPS? FedEx? USPS? |

I've been using GameFly for months. It's a good service, but you need to know something...you'll rarely get new releases. The reason for this is because there is just so many people online and they don't order enough.
Sometimes you'll get lucky like I did with brutal legend, I got that the day it came out...but for everything else, no dice. To get it on the day it comes out, you need to have had it in your queue for months, have it at the top of your queue when it comes out, have no other games they could send you ready to send. You sort of have to learn the tricks of the system with gamefly. By doing so, you'll get games the week they come out (never the day they come out, plus it takes 2 days to shop, not 1 like netflix). It's a good service, but flawed at best. You'll get frustrated a bunch of times like I did, but eventually, you'll learn the system. Right now I have one game out (Ratchet and Clank for PS3) and I deleted everything else off my queue and put Assassin's Creed in the front...hopefully they send it to me on Monday night. Oh, and about how they send the games. They come regular mail in an envelope with cardboard protecting in the envelope for the game. One other thing you should know too, Xbox 360 games are the hardest to get off the service. They are the most popular. PS3 games are really easy to get and that's what I usually do get for that reason. Xbox is very popular and most people are requesting them. |

Thanks, VA1N. I signed up last night so I can give it a try. I also put Assassins Creed II at the top of my list, and all other games in my GameQ under that are games that have not been released yet. I'll try it for a month or two and then decide if it's worth it or not!

Sometimes you get lucky. I've also found that the less games you have in your list, the better. So, if you want to get assassin's creed...remove everything else but AC2. If you have 2 items on your list, for some reason it takes longer.
Oh, and one other thing...above I said to have only one game in your queue...that's games that are already out. So go ahead and put Assassin's Creed on there. But you can put games that haven't come out yet on there too. They don't count towards the "one". When Gamefly goes to send games out on release dates, they look at 2 things. 1) How long it's been in your queue 2) How many people have it in their queue For instance, I had the new Ratchet and Clank game in my queue for about 8 mos. When it was released, I got it on day 1. My buddy added it the night before, he's still waiting for it. So, that matters too. If there are games you want in 2010, add them now. |

I just got an email (and text message) letting me know that they've mailed me Assassins Creed 2 today. Did you get anything?

Yes, and if it only takes one day to get here then I'll actually have it same day as release date... because the actual release date isn't until tomorrow! Where it's coming from is about 460 miles away which sounds far, but it's only a 7 hour drive.

I took Assassin's Creed off my list because I bought it yesterday with Left 4 Dead 2. Right now I only have the one game out at a time plan and I have Ratchet and Clank. After X-mas I might up it to 2 again or cancel depending on whats out there.
It takes Gamefly 2 days to get to me. I live in Baltimore, Maryland and the package is coming from Pittsburgh. If you live close enough though, sometimes it only takes a day, but general estimates put it at 2 days to receive, 2 days to send. |

Okay, I doubt I'll have it tomorrow then. If it takes two days to get to you it'll definitely take two days to get to me. You're only about 250 miles away from them.
