My birthday is coming up and my wife decided to buy me a game. Usually not a good idea (she doesn't know anything about games and usually buys crap). This time though she bought Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. I have heard this game is great. Now I'm reading reviews on it and it looks/sounds awesome like Diablo esk but for the 360. I have to say that I am really excited about playing it tonight any suggestions.

Kiss your free time goodbye. Seriously. I clocked in over 100 hours on that bad boy and there was still shit left to do. My tip for you right now is to research the classes. You basically pick what you want to be and you need to know what each does. I played as a sneaky archer who was good at lockpicking and swords. So, I made my archery and stealth my main attributes and had swords, lockpicking, resorative magic, etc. as my minor. There are soooo many different types of things you can be. I'd also recommend the strategy guide. It's the biggest strategy guide I own (along with Fallout 3). You'll use it often because the quests are normally non-descriptive. A walkthrough online works though too.
This gives a good run down on some of the classes you can pick: Oblivion:Classes - UESPWiki I recommend making your own when it asks. Don't pick one they tell you to because often times you are left with things you never use. One thing to note in the game, the enemies level with you. So, if you level up to 20 and then start the very first quest, you're going to see level 20 mobs attacking you. Oh, and study the races. Some races, like the Britons, are good at magic while others suck. The Redguard are good at swords, humans are decent at everything, etc. So, chose wisely. I wouldn't be surprised if you restarted your game once or twice before you decide...I know I did. It's an amazing game though. It's up there in my top 10. |

There are two expansions for the game (Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles) although I recommend you beat the main game first before going for them. You might be getting those though expansions though because they come in some packagings. If you haven't played Bioshock yet, you should tell your wife to get this: BioShock / The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Xbox 360 It's only 40 bucks and it's probably one of the greatest deals in gaming. Bioshock is another amazing game, but won't take you as long as Oblivion. Oh, and in Oblivion, you don't "beat it". The game continues and you can still play in it. After finishing the main quest, you still have the guild quests to complete (mages, thieves, fighters, dark brotherhood...can't remember if theres another). They each have their own storyline. I'm telling ya man...it's a great game! |
