![]() Gamestop Midnight Openings (PDF) Ok, so here we go...the history of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2...from conception to release date. I didn't include any shaky cam footage and stuff like that to avoid giving out spoilers. Most of the following are either official trailers from Infinity Ward or videos from GameTrailers.com. Enjoy! Modern Warfare 2 was a given. We knew it was coming eventually, we just didn't know when. Because of the huge success of it's predecessor, we knew to expect it, but it was just a matter of when. Well, at GDC 2009, the following teaser trailer was revealed and sent the crowd into roars of cheers. Check out the debut teaser below. Debut Teaser Trailer A few months later after the teaser sent everyone into a frenzy, Modern Warfare was finally revealed. In this trailer, the viewer found out that this was going to be a sequel in more than just the name. Some characters were returning from part 1. Call of Duty has never done a true sequel before, so fans couldn't wait to find out more. Reveal Trailer At E3, fans flocked to Infinity Wards area to get a peek at how the game was progressing. They were not to be dissapointed. The icy gameplay made it's rounds through the internet faster than anything I've seen before as fans rabidly devoured every second. E3 Stage Demo Sure, by this time we all knew the single player was going to be phenomenal. This is Infinity Ward we're talking about here. But, up to this point we hadn't seen much about the multiplayer. We knew kill streaks were being revamped and heard some musings through the local internet channels, but not much. This multiplayer trailer gave fans a look into the world of Modern Warfare 2 MP. Multiplayer Revealed Multiplayer was revealed, but Infinity Ward weren't done yet. The new capture the flag mode, called Flag Runner, was yet to be announced so something had to be done about that. IW released the following video: Flag Runner Multiplayer was now out amongst the masses and the game seemed like it couldn't have any more surprises...oh, but it could. The following trailer rocked the gaming world (as well as some media outlets) with it's portrayal of a blown to hell Washington DC. It looks like after the events of MW1, the fight was brought to American soil where the battle culminated in and around the White House. Single player fans (like myself) rejoiced in one glorious hoorah! This was going to be a single player game unlike anything we've seen before. Infamy Trailer The Infamy trailer blew our minds with the surprise about DC, but Infinity Ward went on record to say that that's not the only surprise. So, just to recap, we have Soap coming back, an insane multiplayer revamp, and DC is under attack, what other surprised could there be? Well, according to some leaked footage, there's the LAX Airport scene as well as a bunch of others surprises yet to be announced. One of those surprises is the fact that you will now be in space in some scenes...yes, space, the final frontier. Check out the following trailer to check it out. Release Trailer So, what a ride. I love reviewing all the trailers of a game the day before it comes out to get my pumped and I hope this did the same for you. I'm sure we'll all be playing it tomorrow evening, so be sure to take care of whatever you need to tonight, so that you can have uninterrupted MW2 time tomorrow. |
