I agree that you can't make an unbreakable program (I too am a programmer, mainly Perl, PHP, VBA, etc. but unfortunately, no robots, which is badass!!!) but you can make it nearly impossible to get access to the program. That's what they need to do. They need to lock down the servers so tight that this type of crap can't happen. This is a relatively harmless "virus" but what if it was something that gave your Xbox the red rings of death? Maybe they put something in it that caused your xbox to malfunction and overheat...IW would be ruined over something like that and the way people are doing shit nowadays, you never know.

I can see how it would be a risk to the used although not sure it could cause RRoD just because thats Hardware failling but I could see how it could really f-up your HDD. So it needs to be fixed but its still a computer and any computer can be hacked. It will always happen and yes they are lucky that it just happened to be a virus for people to get great stats not necessarly to hurt other people's property, but if someone really wants to and they know how they can do this to any game that is on a server.

It could cause the RRoD if it caused some sort of program to kick in that would display large amounts of graphics on the screen at once. By doing so, the processor would heat up to keep up with the graphics. It's highly unlikely, but could be possible.

Here is another weird glitch (or something) that I came across last night. Look at how this person made their name show up in game!

That's odd. I've never seen that before. I've seen the weird " æ " and " Ω " or stuff like that, but never the actual button icons.

I wonder if it's just tricky people who have way too much time on their hands, or IW not putting enough security on their game?

The thing that amazes me Is these companies (infinity ward) or whoever end up pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars and as far as Im concerned the games are not complete, these glitches should technically be taken care of by now. Like with World At War all the glitches where you can hide under the maps and what not. I think its a little ridiculous but what are you going to do. Just my two cents.

I agree with you that bugs should be taken care of, but as someone who has made programs for a company before - you don't always catch them. No matter how hard you try and how many stress tests you have, you will always find something wrong. What you need to do as a developer is make sure no one can compromise your program like people seem to be doing with MW2's infinite ammo issue. To be able to turn a MP match into a sort of virus that goes outward onto people's machines in insane. I've never heard of that before. As long as patches come quickly though, everything should return to normal eventually.

I completely understand that some things can't be found or are overlooked but like you said there is no reason that a hole should be able to compromise a persons system, and the thing that bothers me the most is people who are subjected to this "virus" or what ever you want to call it are being banned...hopefully for some of these people that are banned are not banned indefinately because of something that was possibly overlooked by Infinity Ward.

Banning people for this issue is going to be tough. They are going to have to find people who intentionally did the spreading, but to be honest, how the hell do you do that? If someone was playing and passed it on unintentionally, then they shouldn't be touched. I'm sure they won't though, they are pretty good about banning the correct people.

I'll tell you one easy way to find some of them... These guys in the AC130 gunships are getting 2 or 3 kills per SECOND for about 60 seconds straight. That's literally impossible without infinite ammo. Maybe they would be able to find some that way.

Last night I ended up in the hacked match again, but this time it wasn’t friendly fire and it wasn’t infinite ammo either. It was just team deathmatch groundwar on Rust.

And what about the people who ranked up 2 or 3 prestige levels in less than two days? That’s physically not possible without this hack!
