![]() As soon as it was released (and I'll include it below), the internet put up a big "It's fake!" and went on with their business...but then some people got talking, some others got talking, and now people aren't sure. Apparently Infinity Ward have been promising something big to the fans that they will see in the new game. I think most people thought it was that some missions take place in D.C., but others are now saying it may be the third person view. FourZeroTwo is the Twitter username of Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward's creative strategist. Over the weekend, he tweeted the following line of text around the same time news broken of the third person video... Quote:
But, to add another layer of intrigue, and to some people the icing on the cake to proove this is true, check out the following image: ![]() This is a game mode's screen from a foreign copy of Modern Warfare 2. This is from the official inifinity ward forums. Here is a translation of each game mode. Quote:
Update: Found another video that shows the menus and confirms the screenshot at least. No need to watch through this entire video unless you either understand the language or completely don't believe that the screenshot is valid. I don't know guys, this is looking more and more like it could be true...that, or Infinity Ward celebrates April Fools Day a couple months early. |

yup im still playin cod 4 and will until MW2 comes out
i dont think that IW would put third person in because to y knowledge gamers dont want it, Call of Duty games have always been first person why change that now? PLus I have a couple questions..... How did this "random" dude get ahold of MW2? How come we didnt hear about this 3rd person thing until now? U would figure they'd at least put a glimpse in one of the trailers, I wouldnt really mind if they added 3rd person game-types to multiplayer i just wouldnt play them and i doubt may people would. I hope this is fake because i think IW would be making a huge mistake in doing this b/c they are only opening themselves up to criticism b/c something will be wrong with it plus if u watch the E3 gameplay the ride in a swowmobile at one point and thats in first person so i doubt if they didnt make vehicles third person they would put multiplayer gameplay in third person |

The reason you haven't heard about it (going from the standpoint that it's true) is because there is probably some embargo on it. IW probably told those that got the game they could write a review but do not put about the 3rd person in it or they will sue. And about the guy in France...the game is done. The game has been done for a while. Infinity Ward are holding onto it to release at a better time. They felt that in November, they would get the biggest sales, so that's when they are releasing it. Some store in France got their hands on the game and put it on the shelves. I'd say a distributor got it, sent it out to the store by accident, the ma and pa place got it and put it on shelves, someone bought it, voila. The same thing happened with Halo 3: ODST in France. Someone got a hold of the game a good month before (and now is about a month before MW2). Honestly, the news going around the internet is that this is not fake. The screenshots and videos are just too convincing. MW2 is going to be a FPS...there just may be a mode where you can play in 3rd person. Same with online. I wouldn't get too upset about it, it will be easily avoided if you don't like it. |

yea im still confused why they would even screw around with third person it seems pointless to make an FPS game and throw some third person in the middle of it, the only way to be sure is to wait the 15 days left and see for ourselves

Yeah I could see it happening big releases always have this people at Distibuting centers taking it early (stealing). Just to be the first to play. Its kind of like when the 360 came out and a buddy of mine got a job at Walmart 6 months earlier on the late shift just for a chance to be first in line. He bought his early through some payment option they had then took his when the truck came in the day before they let people buy them.

thats not a bad idea, and he probly got an employee discount to, but in that case it was one day so it doesn't really matter, this is like half a month then leaking what you discovered thats kinda an asshole move to ruin a possible surprise

I think its valid.
It's too easy for an employee who works in a stamping plant (where they copy the discs in mass before they're packaged up and shipped) to grab one copy and stick it in his/her pocket on their way out. It's so close to release date by now these games have to be stamped. Although it's a bit early, it's not impossible at this point for someone to have a legitimate retail copy of this game... whether they got it legally or not. And like VA1N said, some copies definitely would have gone out by now to reviewers, so you know there are real copies out there being played. Also, according to the MyGamerCard.net leaderboards, there are already over 100 people who have played Modern Warfare 2 over Xbox LIVE. These leaderboards don't include the people who do not have Xbox LIVE, so I'm sure there are even more than what MGC shows. |
