Activision may be the evil empire of the video game industry, but this news does make them seem at least a little less demonic (but only a little...read on to find out why). According to
Kotaku.com and numerous other sources across the interweb, Activision plans to unveil a one million dollar backed non-profit corporation tomorrow designed to help soldiers with the transition from the armed forces to civilian careers tomorrow. The launch of Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) will take place on the day that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released to the public.
Satan himself, sorry, I mean Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard CEO, will be at the Newseum in Washington DC to hold a press converence tomorrow announcing this new endeavour. Kotick went on record with the Washinton Post saying the following:

The joblessness rate that [veterans] should have should be far less than the national average, not more. How do you expect people to actually join the military if when they leave the military they can't integrate back into the free market they're supposed to be protecting?

While all of this does make me feel good, it comes too close to the games release to be though of as anything besides shameless publicity. Why do they have to announce this on the day the game comes out? Why couldn't this have been announced months ago. It's a noble thing that Activision is doing, but the fact that they are getting such huge publicity out of it kind of unnerves me a little. Regardless, this is an awesome thing to see game developers do. Maybe it's just Bobby Kotick, but whenever I see his name in a headline I get spiteful.
