Default China Censors World of Warcraft

If you ever get a feeling that the man is censoring what you watch/play/read...just remember China. China is a pretty straight and norrow country and they really don't allow much in the way of freedom of expression in video games. Sure, they'll say they do, but it's stories like this that just make you say, what the hell China?

World of Warcraft was released in China a while back, but a change in operators of the game caused the game to be down for weeks. Well, now it's back up. Players in the game though are finding that some things have changed. There seems to be a lot more censorship going on in what was previously ok. Apparently the local authorities made Blizzard change the content before it could be set live again. Thanks to MMOSITE.com, we can see the changes without speaking Chinese.

It's impossible to hate China. Crap like this becomes public and I just fall back into my, "D'aww... China, that's ADORABLE."

I mean, it's justified. When I see a pile of digital bones on the ground in a video game, my first though is the damnation of the world. Obviously.

I'm happy not to be living in China. They have it rough over there. If I was born there, that would be a different story since I would be used to it and not know it any other way. But to go to China after living in the U.S. would just be the worst!

No wonder their population is spiraling out of control...people can't play cool video games or do anything fun...so they screw. Hence, many many people...
