Default Expect to See More Original Game Shows on Xbox Live

1 vs 100 was a pretty big success for Microsoft. The free application allowed contestants to play for prizes all the while being bombarded with advertisements from major companies. This is one of those situations where everyone wins. The user has fun while winning prizes, advertiser gets hits on their product, and Microsoft gets rich through advertising dollars (which can be astronomical). Well, due to the way this works out for Microsoft, they want to introduce more games for us to play.

Aaron Greenberg, director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, said that...

Quote:
1 vs. 100 was an entirely new space for us...In many ways we are pioneering an entirely new category of entertainment and it has been very successful. It wasn't that hard for us to convince folks to advertise on 1 vs. 100. Now we're looking at not just doing more of that, but how do you think about new types of programming on a network of 23 million people. We're all over the board with ideas, I think 1 vs. 100 was one of those, we will definitely throughout the year reveal more of the innovative things we are thinking about.

-quotes excerpted from Kotaku
From my experience working in advertising, I can attest to the fact that advertisers love our (males 18-35ish) demographic. We are sometimes hard to reach too since we don't always watch tv at certain times and out internet behavior is spotty at best. Being able to capture all those individuals in one fell swoop is a blessing that advertisers latch onto. Expect to see more games coming out in the future that are ad driven. And remember, don't fear the ad, embrace it...it makes stuff free.
