Female Lead Character Coming to Gears of War 3?

Before you go running to your sock drawer, you should know that this is yet unconfirmed. Recently, on an episode of 1 vs. 100, Cliff B. of Gears of War notoriety said that the female gears character that is present in the ninth issue of the Gears of War comic may or may not be present in the third installment of the game. Up to this point, the only women we really have seen in Gears have been Anya Stroud over the intercom (and in some cutscenes) and Maria Santiago, Dom's wife. If this is true, we'd have the first woman COG, not just a sub character.

So, who is this mystery woman? She's a female scout named Alex. The Delta and Sigma squads meet her in the city of Jilane and describe her as being "tough as nails."

So, will this femme fatale be in the next Gears of War? Well, if the developers want her to be...she will.

I didn't realize Gears of War had it's own DC comic line. I've never been one for comics, but I'm going to pick these up! The Gears storyline has always been one of my favorites so I'm heading to comic shop I just found online after work to pick these up.

As long as they don't introduce some far fetched love triangle between Dom and Fenix...I'm ok with it.

i think the whole love triangle thing is a certain in any video game when u add a girl in the mix

Her name is Alex? Sold. God knows "Alex" is the greatest name ever... *Ahem*

I'm tied on this. I agree that the game could use a female character, but... There's a chance it could go wrong. They said she's tough as nails. That throws out the possibility of a love-child who is Carmine-y "I don't want to shoot it cause it'll shoot me!" character.

But... Tough as nails and we're thrown back into the ordinary "Oh yeah, she's a girl and she'll kick your ass! ROAR!" character that are overly cliche and, whenever flirting comes up, they make a joke and shrug it off... then go chainsaw someone.

But, of course, there's only room FOR that type of female in this type of game. All-in-all... It's a welcome addition.

A lot of people are getting all up in arms about this character because she's the "first female gear." Not true though. I'm reading the novel and there is a woman in the book who is a sniper. She is old and Marcus and Dom find her when they get ambushed by some Locust. She kills a drone from a distance and they don't know who it is at first until she makes her presence known. Apparently this older woman and Hoffman have a history. So, there's other women in the gears universe, just not in the games yet.
