Final Fantasy VII Remake Possible?

Final Fantasy VII is considered by many to be the pinnacle of the Final Fantasy series. Some people, to this day, contend that it's the greatest game ever made. Whether you loved the 7th game in the long line of FF games or not, you can't deny the fact that it changed the gaming landscape. When it came out on the PS1, it offered amazing visuals (for the time), an awesome story and amazing character growth. This game is the first game that ever made me really care for characters and when Aeris died, I shed a tear (just one though).

Fans of the game have been clamoring for years that Square Enix remake this game so they can enjoy it in high definition with all the added features the later games benefited from. Square Enix have responded on it in the past and even talked about it in a survey they sent out to fans. The topic has almost become over saturated because it seems we constantly hear of a possible remake and then all we get is a re-release of the original on the PS3/PSP system via PSN.

Final Fantasy VII director Yoshinori Kitase recently spoke to Siliconera and when asked what game he would like to remake he responded with the following:

That would be Final Fantasy VII! ...If we had the manpower and the time to work on a project, if we were to remake Final Fantasy VII with the quality of Final Fantasy XIII it would become a tremendous project...If we can get the number of people we need by all means that would be the one I would really want to remake.

So, does it mean that it's finally going to be remade? Nope, not at all. What it does mean is that Square Enix have considered it. With the above average success of Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix are most likely now looking for the next mega hit (in the same vein as FFX). Could a remake be the hit they are looking for? It's not certain, but one thing is for sure...if they do remake Final Fantasy VII it better be amazing or fans are going to be insanely disappointed, especially after the long wait. The pressure on the game being the best thing since sliced bread is almost palpable. We'll just have to see if Square Enix take the challenge.

See they shouldn't remake it as much as just reup to graphics and put it out. If you change the game fans are going to be pissed. If you make it worse they may lose interest in the franchise.
