A couple weeks ago, the news broke about a website that was being released to the gaming public. This website, GameCrush: Be a Player, is a site where you can go and pay a girl (or guy if you fancy) to play multiplayer games with you over the PC, Xbox, or PS3. I shit you not...I can't make this kind of stuff up. I'm not that creative.

Some people thought it would be a good idea to get a bunch of female gamers together and have people pay to talk to them (because that's basically what you are doing). The price for the honor of playing with a real life girl is about $6.60 per 10 minutes. At that price, it's almost a given that no one would be interested in that. I mean, who would pay almost the full price of a video game to play with a girl for an hour...well, more than you think. The following is taken from the website directly:

So, not only did the site get hits, it got too many hits that it couldn't keep up with demand. They are actually implementing new servers to meet demand? Are you serious? This is not good gaming community. You're only feeding the stereotypes so keep it up why don't ya?

Very very lonely gamers. It's kind of pathetic actually, but if there's money to be made, you can't fault the company for at least capitalizing on it. If people are going to throw their money away, so be it.
