Default Happy Birthday PS2

Ten years ago today, on March 4th, 2000, the PS2 was released to the Japanese gaming community. A couple months later on October 26th, North Americans received it. While it may have had some initial issues out of the gate trying to compete with the mighty Dreamcast, it quickly stole the show when the Dreamcast fell out of the race. 10 years later, games are still coming out for the PS2 and it's still selling amazingly. Without a doubt, the PS2 is on everyone's top 5 list of best consoles ever made with most people putting it at number 1. So, whether you are sided with Sony or Microsoft in the next gen fanboy war, or reside somewhere in between like myself, no one can deny the fact that the PS2 was the clear winner of the previous console generation.

Happy Birthday PS2.

It's sad, but seeing this makes ME feel old.

Can't believe it's been that long! Amazing... I still have fond memories of the PS2, enough that when I have some spare cash lying about, I was considering buying a refurbished one so I could play some old PS2 games on it. That, or I'll hold out for the PS3 to be backwards compatible.

I was actually really close to doing that to get the God of War games and Persona 4. Thankfully the God of War games were rereleased on the PS3 so that nixed that. I still want to play Persona 4 pretty bad though, but with FFXIII coming out on Tuesday, I think I'll wait.
