![]() Crash Course is a new level that can be used in any mode. The level actually takes place after No Mercy (when you hop on the helicopter) and Death Toll. Gabe Newell, head honcho over at Valve, went on record to assure fans that support for Left 4 Dead 1 is far from over... Quote:

Well... This is good, I guess. DLC is always welcomed, especially for the computer, being free and all. I mainly play L4D on the computer just because I'm much better at aiming with a mouse.
Back to the topic, anyway... They had that online petition to boycott L4D2 - which sounds like a Star Wars robot, but I digress - and last I checked it was up to 34,000 signatures or so. I can't say I agree with releasing a sequel hardly a year later, but... I don't know if I'll be prone to buying it right away. It mainly takes place during the day, apparently, and... That just doesn't do it for me. But, anywho... I'm glad *some* DLC is coming for L4D. It's, again, a welcome addition. Hopefully they'll have more on the way.

I'm looking forward to left 4 dead 2. They are adding a lot of changes to the way the director spawns enemies, new weapons, new locations (thank God) and I think the daytime will be refreshing. L4D will still be a big hit, but I'm always an early adopter to technology. Plus, I want to kill zombies in a suit. Just my style.

The way I see it, L4D is just going to be better than L4D1 in all ways. L4D1 was a masterpiece of co-op gameplay. If they keep everything the same, and just add in new items, tweak some algorithms with the director, new characters, etc...they will have a hit on their hands.
The things I like that are being added are the little things. For instance, if you are going bad, the director (game AI) will spawn a paratrooper near your location that got stuck in the tree. Underneath of him is his gear you can pick up. If you are doing really good, the director might spawn it away from the main road so you will have to look. Thats cool! |

Yup, the director is the AI that sees how good you are or how you are playing the game and tries to throw stuff at you. Basically, it's a complex computer program written a shitload of algorithms. I can't even imagine how complex it is.
Let's say your whole team has shotguns and you guys are owning, he may try to throw a bunch of smokers at you to hit you from range so you can't kill them easily. On the other hand, if you are doing horrible and on an easy difficulty, you won't see many special zombies at all. It dictates what happens to you at all points in the game. |
