Default New Medal of Honor Will Not Be a Propaganda Piece

Modern Warfare 1 had a pretty realistic approach to Modern Warfare. The nuke scene erupted feelings in us that we previously hadn't seen in a shooter. Modern Warfare 2 though was more of a trip to the world of fantasy. A war would never begin with Russia over one dead American in an airport and the battle for Washington would most likely never take place. Regardless, it was an action packed game that was badass no doubt, just nowhere near as realistic as it's predecessor.

EA's team of dev's behind the upcoming reboot of the Medal of Honor series know that Modern Warfare has taken a turn for the fantasy and want to cash in on the hole they left in their wake. Speaking with IncGamers, EA LA’s Sean Decker said that the upcoming Medal of Honor game is a lot like the hit movie "Hurt Locker" with the game documenting the soldiers on the ground, the emotions they go through and their daily lives. Referring to the movie, Decker said the following:

Quote:
“There's been a lot of really good movies – the Gotham Awards just came out and Hurt Locker was the top one. It has nothing to do with the war in Iraq and why it started, or anything else – it's just about the men on the ground, what they go through on a day-to-day basis, and their emotions."
With Medal of Honor focusing more on the soldiers on the ground and the emotions they feel, the chance to have a quality story is very high. Other games like Brothers in Arms focus their stories on the individuals and sometimes the stories can be very dark and disturbing (but also very good). As we get closer to the time frame for when the game is set to be released, I'm looking forward to hearing more about the story and how they are going to take it. Right now there are two other big name games focusing on modern warfare with two distinct story types. Modern Warfare has switched to the high action, high octane blockbuster movie story, Battlefield: Bad Company takes more of a war comedy approach (sort of like Three Kings the movie), and now Medal of Honor will give us the realistic side. Time will tell us how realistic the game will actually be.
