Nintendo DSi XL Releases to America

In case you weren't aware (or didn't care), the Nintendo DSi XL was released to North America on Sunday, March 28th. The DSi XL is basically the same thing as the Nintendo DSi (which was released about a year ago) except larger...much larger. The Nintendo DSi sported a 3.25 inch screen which the XL increases to a whopping 4.2 inch screen. Although the screen is bigger, the display didn't change with the DSi and DSi XL having the same aspect ration. What does this mean? You're looking at the same image, just blown up on the DSi XL. So far, people haven't found fault with it, except in some games with pixels looking jagged or too big.

The device was initially conceived for the senior gamers who had trouble seeing the smaller screen/text on the DSi. Along with the the bigger screens, the device is actually bigger. If you are one to play the DS on the go, this brings into question whether or not the device is indeed portable anymore. The device is big, but not so big that you can't take it with you.

If you are in the market for a DS, the DSi XL could be the choice for you. At 189.99, the device is about 20 bucks more than the standard DSi (169.99) and about 60 bucks more than the DS Lite (129.99).
