No Party Chat in Modern Warfare 2?

Another day another Modern Warfare 2 issue. It seems people we just going silent about the server issue on the PC when this little bit of news decided to pop up. A poster on the NeoGaf forums uploaded the following image to the site. In this image (it's small) the following text is displayed:

This multiplayer session requires that you be in the game chat channel. If you don't switch, you can't play.

Switch to the game chat channel now?

Basically, what this means is that party chat isn't going to be allowed in some (or maybe all) multiplayer games in Modern Warfare 2. While this may seem absolutely absurd to you, there is a reason behind it. Cheaters like to put a person on each team in multiplayer games, then have one person tell the other guy on the other team where their teammates are so they are easy pickings. It's cheating and it's a pain in the ass. For a game as popular as Modern Warfare 2, it makes sense that they would want their game as cheat proof as possible. You are still able to talk to your buddies, you just can't talk to them privately, you're going to have the rest of your team in the chat with you. But still, people are not going to like this one bit. While this is anything but official, the image doesn't lie and most major news sources are picking it up. We'll have to keep an eye on this going forward (or find out for ourselves next Tuesday).

Also, be sure to note that this is for the Xbox 360...the PS3 doesn't have a party chat option.

This kinda sucks I didn't know I guess it was used for cheating me and my friends use it in Merc team deathmatches all the time. If we are on the same team great we run as a group if not we laugh when we kill eachother. I guess if the cheating is a big problem it needs to be taken care of I havn't had a problem with it but I could see why people would be upset.

Apparently it is. I posted this article over at Reddit.com and a lot of people seem to like the fact that this is happening. Apparently cheating is a bigger issue than I thought.

I'm not a cheater but I enjoyed this feature very much. Mainly because I couldn't stand listening to grown adults get into shouting matches with 9 year olds

Thats why I use party chat. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer gaming. I'll take a solid single player game with no MP over a MP enabled game any day of the week...but when I do play those MP games, I want to be in a party chat with people I know...not random strangers who all of a sudden get ballsy behind a curtain of anonymity.

Unfortunatly this isn't going to change that. It just changes you not being able to talk to your friends while playing. But the whole I can say what I want because you can't do anything is still going to happen.

this is really gunna annoy me, ive never run into this problem and really havent heard of anyone who has, i hope this is not true im hoping someone made it up to get attention

has anyone else noticed that every leaked footage/information is of shitty quality, how come the person with an advanced copy doesnt have a HD Capture card or HD camera? they always seem fishy to me

Sorry to say, but these are all real videos bro. Any videos, especially those that are posted from yesterday and on, are definitely legit copies of real game footage. The game has leaked... it's all over the internet now... and it has been for about 24 hours already.

Im not doubting its real footage ( sometime i do_ but what im saying is the people who receive advanced copies never have a good way of capturing what they found, im just wondering why nobody who gets early games has an HD capture card or something, every early footage always leave us more confused

This is my guess, and it's just a guess:

The legitimate folks who get an early copy of the game (ING for example) may not be allowed to make gameplay videos prior to the release date. Activision may say (in my own words), "Here ING, here is a copy of Modern Warfare 2 so you can write a review, but do not make any video until such and such a date otherwise you will lose your privilege of being able to get future games from us early to review".

So then who is making the gameplay footage? Probably the people who got an early pirated copy illegally somehow. Or maybe a reviewer who had a legal early copy and he/she let a friend borrow it for the day after they were done with the review? Maybe some random manager from GameStop who wasn't supposed to open the box until the night before release, but snuck one home for him/herself. These are the people who don't care if they make gameplay footage because they have no consequences like ING would.

But why is it crappy quality? Maybe because these people also don't have the extra $$$ like ING would to be able to spend on capture cards, ect. Or maybe they want to be the first to put up gameplay footage online so they rush it instead of taking their time for a quality video?

I really don't know man... This is just my guess haha what do you think?
