Rumor: BioShock 2 DLC Already on Disc

A forum conversation recently came up about developers releasing DLC for games that is merely an unlock code for content already on the disc. Well, add another company to the list that is possibly doing the game thing. 2K games, creators of BioShock 2, recently released their DLC named Sinclair Solutions Test Pack. This DLC cost 5 bucks to download and when people checked the size of the file, they were surprised to see it was only 108kb on Xbox 360, and 24kb on PC. If you aren't too fluent in computer file sizes, that's itty bitty small.

People have taken to the official BioShock forums and started complaining. Honestly, they should be complaining. When you buy a game, you are buying everything that comes on that disc. If the maps or characters or weapons were finished BEFORE the game shipped and it was INCLUDED on the disc, then the end user who bought the disc owns it. You can't charge them for something they already bought. That's borderline shady business practice right there. There is no way a couple new characters and maps fit into a 24kb size download. That just smells of unlock code to me.

It will be interesting to see how 2K justifies this move. I always help 2K games pretty high in the 'love for their customers' department. This defintiely hurts their image a little bit. Especially when the multiplayer in BioShock 2 isn't even that good!
