![]() Seems like a pretty smart decision from Microsoft though. Drop the mid grade model (Pro) and make the high end (Elite) cheaper. Wish I would have waited a few months to get my Elite now. Looking at the competition though, Sony, even if they do drop the price of the PS3, are going to met with some fierce competition with this. I bet they are a little ticked they didn't lower the price sooner. Come on Sony, what are you waiting for? |

If only - IF ONLY! - they dropped the Pro, or even the Arcade bundle, down to less than $200 for a single day or so. Just two days. Seeing as mine is still busted, and I need to get a new core, I'd love for that to happen. But, I know it most likely WON'T... So I won't hold my breath.
And, obviously, Sony was waiting for me to BUY a PS3 before they lower the price. They're waiting on my call to let them know... -__-

The Pro is gone, they are taking it off the market. It's going to be a relic. There was an image spread around the internet a couple days ago showing that it's gone. Check it out below. The arcade version on the left is old and the arcade version on the right is part of a new shipment. Notice that the pro is gone off the list?

Yeah, I just wish they sold the Pro a final day with a price cut or something. That'd be cool, since I still need to shell out the cash for a new core one of these days. But... Yeah.
R.I.P.

Honestly, just get the arcade. The arcade is only 200 bucks and has the jasper chipset in it which pretty much null and voided the RRoD. Take your 60 gig hard drive and plop that bad boy on the arcade versions system and you got yourself a system that is better than the pro. Or, just save up and get the elite when the price drops to get the 120 gig hard drive...and fill it up in a matter of months like I did. I really gotta stop installing games to hard drives.

Wow this is interesting news! So you can still get the Arcade, right? That's what I would do Spiked. Actually, that is what I did! I bought the Arcade version and then got a used hard drive off eBay. I haven't had any issues as of yet and it's been almost a year and 1/2 now and there are a LOT of hours on it!

Yeah, and the new arcade models all have the jasper chipset (the most recent) and that is the chipset that is supposed to get rid of the RRoD. When I got my Elite for x-mas from my girlfriend, I opened it up real fast to check the manufactured date. Unfortunately, I don't have the jasper, but I do have the one right before the jasper which is still a really good one. Most Pro models have the model before that which was the one that caused a lot of overheating.
